My View of Secret Recipe, MIRI.

I guess everyone knew that Secret Recipe has finally opened on Monday 8th September 2008. I went there the next day after it opened. Well, to my surprised the interior design is very quite disappointed.

It seems like everything was did in a rush. But room of improvement is always there. The staffs there need a lot more training so that situation won’t be so messy. I, myself would prefer more bright lights in the room, while the air-conditioning shouldn’t be installed on the ceiling but would be better if they install it on the side.

I was sitting at the table number 5, right next to my table, is where the air-conditioning face down, straight down to the table next to mine. I don’t think it’s very hygienic. All the dust might just flew down the food and even the customer’s hair. Well, for now, everything seems new and less dust, but long term effect need to be put in mind.

Those waiters and waitress shouldn’t stuff themselves inside the making drinks corner. What I saw that night, there are 3 persons making drinks, however, those waiters and waitress stands INSIDE the corner after they finished serving food and drinks to the customers. It would cause accidents as the corner is not big. Making yourself like a sardine fish in a can won’t help much. Must bear in mind, safety come first.

The waiting corner is not effective either, well that’s because there isn’t much space in the room to make a proper waiting corner. It would be nice if you have a set of sofa and a coffee table as a waiting corner. I don’t think this idea will work. Well, I will let them figure this out themselves. LOL

The cake corner, hmm, Only 1 comments from me about that. I realized the lady in charge for that corner put all those cakes which left 2 or 3 slices into 1 big plate. Actually, it’s not good to do like that. It’s because, customer need to know which cake is which when they see the cake. My boyfriend and I has been standing there for like 5 minutes trying to figure out which cake is which that night as everyone seems so busy. Well, good business, I can’t blame them after all, the place is still new, staff still not familiar etc. So, in my point of view, even your cake left just 1 slice, do please leave the cake just there at where it was displayed earlier on with the name display on it. So that customer won’t be having trouble knowing what type of cake is that and cashier, waiter or waitress don’t have to bother to entertain the customer’s question on what cake is that? And they can do their task smoothly with no disturbance.

I also realized there are small flies flying around the room. I’m not sure if they did install the bug attracter (I don’t know the exact name for that light bulb). If they don’t have 1, they should get one for the room and another one for their kitchen. It’s not because of the place dirty, but is the drain outside that is super dirty.

The cakes, are they fly-in from KL? LOL I guess so. I saw boxes in their fridge. I ordered hot chocolate that night, well, seems like they don’t use milk but sugar instead. I don’t want to comment of their food as probably that is the way they make their hot chocolate but too bad, that’s not my taste. Lol.
There are quite a lot of bosses in there. I have no idea who is who lol but they sure is friendly xD

Good luck in your business whoever you are. Hope to see more improvement.
3 cheers to the best cake shop in Malaysia.
Good night.
